Five years after participating in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifies, players of the Black Princesses are yet to receive their bonuses that the government pledged to them.
The Ghana U20 female national team, are protesting for their unpaid bonuses from the year 2015 till date.
The players are requesting for an amount of $8,000 owed them by the Sports Ministry following their participation in international assignments.
Each player was promised $2,000 during qualification series.
The playing body are calling for a quick resolution of the bonus issue to raise the moral of players’ and get them shaped up for national duties.
It will be recalled that Ghana walloped the senegalese 8-0 in the first round of qualifies and went ahead to beat Equatorial Guinea 3-0 in the second round.
The team then sealed their qualification by eliminating Ethiopia from the 2016 Women’s World Cup staged in Papua New Guinea by beating them six goals to two at the last stage of the qualifiers.
According to a member of the team, Kate Agyeman, government promised to resolve the bonus issue by the close of the year 2015 ,but failed to fulfill the promise.
She indicated that the team wrote a petition to the Flag staff House through the Sports Ministry and Ghana FA before they were paid bonuses for two matches remaining a balance of bonus for four matches .
Kate Agyeman, who spoke to General Manucho of GBC Sunrise Fm on condition of obscurity, said the players are getting disappointed by the government and therefore, calling on the ministry of Youth and Sports to resolve the issue as a matter of gravity.
