Over three decades of neglecting Nkawkaw Sports Stadium, the God sent Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkawkaw Constituency, Hon Joseph Frimpong has pushed for works to take off.
Work on the abandoned Sports Stadium after so many years have secured funding from government to complete the project in the next two years.
The project was supposed to start in 2020 immediately after sod cutting but was halted due to changes in the initial plans. The project would be constructed by experts within a specific period and will ensure that it meets football standards.
On Friday, September 4th,2020 the immediate past Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah, Middle Belt Development Authority Deputy Lawyer Joyce Opoku Boateng, NSA Boss Prof. Peter Twumasi, Traditional Council of Kwahu, Eastern RFA Chairman Linford Asamoah Boadu, as well as the dedicated MP Hon Joseph Frimpong cut sod for the construction of the stadium.
The Multipurpose World Class Sports Stadium project consisting of a football pitch, dressing room, volleyball court, Tennis court, hostel, among other facilities according to the Isaac Asiamah, would cost GH¢27 million. Phase one will consume GH¢13 million while the completion of the stadium takes the remaining GH¢14 million.
In an exclusive Interview with General Manucho of Gbc Sunrise Fm-Koforidua, Hon. Joseph Frimpong said, Government would provide the necessary resources to turn the facility into a standard sports stadium to benefit the people of Kwahu and the country at large.
“I can assure all that, the facility when completed would be put to good use and measures would be put in place to ensure that, maintenance culture will work on the facility to benefit future generations” He concluded.
