The President of Division One League side Tema Youth FC, Wilfred Kwaku Osei Palmer has made a shockingly revelations on his disqualification from the 2019 Ghana FA Presidential elections.
The former Ghana U20 management committee chairman disclosed that a respectable football administrator played an instrumental role in his disqualification from the elections. He shrugged off reports in the media that members of the Dr. Kofi Amoah led GFA Normalization Committee decided to prevent him from contesting the Ghana Football Association Presidential seat.
Osei Palmer dragged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) following his ‘unfair’ disqualification from contesting the last year’s elections.
He was disqualified based on the recommendation of a Vetting Committee for breaching financial regulations after the transfer of his player Joseph Paintsil from Tema Youth FC to Belgian side KRC Genk.
“My disqualification was an agenda that was deliberately championed by ‘some football people’ and not the government,” Osei Palmer told Angel FM “My disqualification from the GFA presidential election was a grand designed to take me out,”
“I know those who wrote the report to disqualify me. It was not from any member of the Normalisation Committee.” “A very active respectable person in the football fraternity altered the document”.
The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) verdict on the legal tussle between the Ghana Football Association and Wilfred Kwaku Osei Palmer is expected to be announced on September 1.
